A title search establishes who owns a property, since when, and what encumbers it. In Quebec, it runs through the land registry — and that's where the time is lost.
You have to consult the property index for the lot in question, note the relevant registrations according to the chosen transfer and encumbrance periods, trace the cadastral history when the lot has been renovated, then obtain each deed. None of this calls for legal judgment: it's locating and collecting, repeated identically from one file to the next.
